Pssst…hey buddy…wanna buy a used Formula One car cheap? You are in luck – it turns out that there is one available on Craigslist [see link below] – a 2011 Lotus F1 car used in three races during the 2011 season. Technically, the car was on the Lotus team but the team was in the process of being sold to Caterham and therefore is sporting a 2013 Caterham body and the green color scheme of what would become the ill-fated Caterham team that went belly-up last year. The catch? There is no Renault-supplied engine to go along with the car – so you will have to supply your own engine to go along with the Red Bull-supplied gearbox. Lotus drivers Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli raced the car in three races at Bahrain, Monaco and Spa-Francorchamps – with each recording 13th-place finishes – Trulli at Bahrain and Monaco and Kovalainen at Spa.
The Lotus/Caterham F1 car is being offered out of Hoover, Alabama, for $95,000 – or the seller will accept a trade-in [presumably not your Prius].
The 2015 Formula One season continues with the Italian Grand Prix at Monza at 5 a.m. [PDT] on NBCSN on September 6, 2015.
