Ford v. Ferrari Moves Forward With Director

James Mangold – director of “The Wolverine” and “Logan” has signed on to become the director for what is unofficially known as the “Untitled Ford vs. Ferrari Project” – movie from 20th Century Fox based on the true story of the battle of designers at Ford and Ferrari to create the world’s fastest racecar in the 1960s.

The film follows a team of American engineers and designers led by automotive visionary Carroll Shelby and his British driver, Ken Miles, who are commissioned by Henry Ford II to create a car that can defeat the perennially dominant Ferrari at the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans.

No casting has yet been announced but Mangold is reported to have a preference of Christian Bale for the role of Ken Miles and Matt Damon for Carroll Shelby for the movie which would most likely not be released until 2019, or possibly 2020.
