Former F1 Boss Ecclestone Accused Of Fraud

Former Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has been accused of fraud brought after an investigation by the UK’s Revenue and Customs. Ecclestone is accused of fraud by false representation after allegedly failing to declare the existence of a trust in Singapore worth $650 million between 2013-2016. Ecclestone has pleaded not guilty to the charge

Ecclestone ran Formula from the late 1970s until he was booted out in January 2017, although, inexplicably, his wife, Fabiana Ecclestone, remains a vice-president of the International Automobile Federation [FiA] – the motorsport’s governing body.

Ecclestone was granted unconditional bail by the judge before the next hearing on September 19, 2022.

The charge reportedly stems from a prior criminal investigation and is connected to “offshore assets, which were concealed from HMRC”.
