Former LeMans Porsche Featured Artwork Of Slain Charlie Hebdo Artist

One of the Charlie Hebdo cartoonists killed by terrorists in Paris this week, Georges Wolinski, had his artwork featured on a LeMans Porsche 911 that ran in the 1998 race. Sponsored by French tile company Tuiles, the car featured naked ladies prominently and finished in a distant 20th place that year. Wolinski was editor of the satirical magazine in its first incarnation from 1961-70 and worked as a cartoonist on its later rebirth.

Wolinski was one of those killed by the terrorists while they were having their editorial meeting in the Charlie Hebdo offices. The terrorists have since been killed in a shootout with French police.
