Formula One Announces 2021 Season Schedule

The FiA [Formula One’s governing entity] has announced the 2021 season schedule – there will be 23 grands prix next year – the longest season in history.

The 2021 Formula One season begins, as usual, in Australia on March 21 and ends, as usual, in Abu Dhabi on December 6. The calendar is official but tentative – dependent on no further Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic disruption.

Additionally, the 2021 Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne is currently scheduled to be held with fans in an ‘F1 biosphere’.

Also, the date previously allocated for the 2021 Vietnamese Grand Prix – April 25 – will be filled by one of the replacement tracks used this season as the race was not approved by Vietnamese government officials. The tracks in Turkey [Istanbul Park], Portugal [Portimao] and Italy [Imola] are reportedly the leading candidates to replace the Vietnam venue.

Saudi Arabia will be making their debut with a street-based grand prix in Jeddah on November 28.

Finally, the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix was moved from its original spring date to September 5, at the seaside town of Zandvoort.
