Formula One Bans Under 18 Drivers Beginning In 2016

Beginning with the 2016 racing season, Formula One will no longer allow drivers under the age of 18 to compete in races. Additionally, drivers seeking a Formula One ride must also accumulate a minimum of 40 points from junior series races over a three-year period to become eligible for a Formula One seat.

Winning the FIA F2, GP2, European F3, World Endurance or IndyCar championships will be worth 40 points while winning the GP3 or Formula Renault 3.5 series will be worth 30 points.

The first race of the 2015 Formula One racing season takes place in Melbourne, Australia on March 15, 2015.
