Formula One Confirms Las Vegas Grand Prix And Rest Of 2023 Calendar

Formula One has officially confirmed the addition of an inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix on the recently released 2023 racing calendar – and it will be Saturday race [on November 18], instead of the usual Sunday race on most grand prix weekends – the last time a race was not held on a Sunday during a grand prix weekend was the 1985 South African Grand Prix.

The 24-race calendar released today also includes the Monaco Grand Prix – which will continue in Formula One until at least 2025 – after a three-year deal was signed when Monaco’s contract was up this year.

The 2023 Formula One 24-race calendar will begin with the Bahrain Grand Prix in early March and finish at the site of last year’s fiasco, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, in late November – but many races in between those dates have been either added, shuffled or, in the case of the Chinese Grand Prix, yet to be determined.

The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix will use a circuit that incorporates the city’s famous Strip, and will join Austin and Miami as the the third race hosted in the USA.

Other changes for 2023 include the Belgian Grand Prix, which moves backward into July and now takes place after the Hungarian Grand Prix – a change expected to be temporary as the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is widely speculated to be replaced in 2024 by the South African Grand Prix in Kyalami.

Also, the Qatar Grand Prix, which debuted in 2021, returns as planned. Qatar is not hosting an event this year due to its hosting of the World Cup.
