Formula One Moves To ESPN And ABC In 2018

Goodbye NBCSN and inane commentators. Hello ESPN and ABC and – possibly – more objective coverage as Formula One has announced that they have agreed to a set a multi-year partnership bringing coverage of the FiA Formula One World Championship to their channels beginning with the Australian Grand Prix in March 2018. ABC, in particular, was the original home of USA Formula One coverage back in 1962.

With the agreement, all 2018 Formula One races – and qualifying sessions – will air live in the USA on either ESPN, ESPN2 or ABC.

Upcoming 2018 Formula One season highlights will be coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday, May 27 (Memorial Day weekend), which will air live on ESPN prior to the traditional Indianapolis 500. The United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, on October 21 and the Mexican Grand Prix on October 28 will air live on ABC while the Canadian Grand Prix (June 10) will air live on ESPN.

NBCSN had been airing F1 races since 2013 prior to Liberty Media’s acquisition of Formula 1 last year for $4.4 billion.
