Formula One Scarab Cars Up For Auction At Goodwood

A pair of Formula One Scarab racing cars from the late 1950s and early 1960s will be available at auction along with their Fiat transporter. The cars were raced by Americans Lance Reventlow and Chuck Daigh, but neither did very well nor lasted very long – only competing in two races with both retiring from the Belgian Grand Prix and Daigh finishing 10th at the American Grand Prix at Riverside, California, in 1960 – due to the cars being front-engined when most of the successful F1 cars were transitioning to rear-engined.

The Scarab cars and their transporter will be offered for auction at $3.5 million at the Goodwood Revival in the UK on September 12, 2015.
