Formula One will allow approximately 13,000 spectators to attend each day of the 2020 Emilio Romagna Grand Prix weekend – which will take place over the weekend of October 31-November 1, 2020, at Italy’s Imola circuit.
Spectators were kept away from the first eight races of this season, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix at Mugello allowed 2,800 fans per day over their three-day weekend last month and last week’s
2020 Russian Grand Prix also allowed a limited number of spectators to attend. Both the upcoming 2020 Eifel Grand Prix at Germany’s famed Nurburgring circuit on October 9-11, 2020 as well as the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix at Portimao on October 23-25, 2020, are also planning on allowing limited numbers of fans to attend those race weekends.
Imola is both a deadly and historic Formula 1 venue that held 17 consecutive Grands Prix from 1980, but is more famous for being the track where both Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna were killed in high-speed accidents on consecutive days in 1994. The track has not held a F1 race since 2006.
F1 has introduced a compressed two-day on-track schedule at Imola for 2020.
