The Gift That Keeps On Giving – Marussia’s Demise Costs Ferrari And McLaren

Marussia’s failure as a Formula One racing team has cost its racing partners, Ferrari and McLaren, a combined total of nearly $37 million with its folding as a team this year.

Ferrari, who supplied engines to the team, was on the hook for nearly $26 million while McLaren, who had a technical partnership arrangement, was owed $11 million which it will never see.

Marussia will auction off its three cars – sans engines – next month, but Formula One racing team newcomer Haas has already snatched up most of the available parts and technology from the defunct team.

The first race of the 2015 Formula One racing season takes place in Melbourne, Australia on March 15, 2015.
