Goodyear Continues Cotton Bowl Traditions

Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the college football season is staggering onward with bowl games and one of those is the venerable classic, Cotton Bowl, held in Dallas, Texas. Goodyear has been a so-called title sponsor of that bowl game since 2014.

Prior to game day, both participating teams’ coaches and players have visited the Scottish Rite for Children and Children’s Health hospitals since 1986, using the opportunity to spend time with the children and to name two pediatric patients “honorary captains” of the game – but this year, the Covid-19 pandemic has negated players’ hospital visits, so Goodyear and the Cotton Bowl will use AT&T Stadium’s Jumbotron to feature a virtual tribute to healthcare workers and pediatric patients during the game.

Additionally, Goodyear has made two custom football helmets featuring the logos of both hospitals. The helmets will be signed by this year’s Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic participating teams’ head coaches and captains and delivered to the hospitals after the game.

Goodyear also is also making a donation of $10,000 to each hospital.

The 2020 Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic pits the University of Florida against the University of Oklahoma and will kick off on ESPN at 7 p.m. [CST] on December 30, 2020.
