Grand Prix Of Long Beach in 2016?

The IndyCar contract with the city of Long Beach expires next year and Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone has already expressed an interest in returning to the southern California city for a race on the 2016 schedule if the city decides to open up the bidding for the contract. Ecclestone sent a letter to Long Beach officials last year expressing the interest but it may all be a moot point unless Long Beach officials open the bidding process next year between what would presumably be IndyCar and Formula One entities.

The Formula One Grand Prix of Long Beach ran from 1976-83 with Scuderia Ferrari winning it three times and winning drivers including Mario Andretti [Lotus] and Niki Lauda [McLaren].
