Haas Adds Mick Schumacher To Their 2021 Team

Haas has selected Mick Schumacher, the 21-year-old son of seven-time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher, as one of their drivers for the 2021 season, joining Russian Nikita Mazepin, who was announced earlier in the week.

The German Schumacher was signed to a “multi-year contract” by Haas after already having a long-term contract with Ferrari, who will start Spaniard Carlos Sainz as one of their drivers for the 2021 and 2022 seasons alongside Frenchman Charles Leclerc [who has a contract until 2024].

Schumacher’s father, Michael Schumacher was the most successful driver of all time, with 91 wins and seven World Championships until this year when Britain’s Lewis Hamilton surpassed Schumacher’s win total and equaled his championships total.

Michael Schumacher has not been seen in public since suffering severe head injuries in a skiing accident in 2013. His family has been secretive about his medical condition, which has not publicly updated since the accident.

Mick Schumacher made his Formula 2 debut last season, winning a race at the Hungarian Grand Prix, and finishing 12th overall. This year, Schumacher has won two races and is 14 points atop the driver’s standings with two races remaining in the season.
