Haas Cuts Ties With Rich Energy, Shacks Up With Lightning Volt Limited

In a story far more interesting than anything that has happened so far in the 2019 Formula One season – at least as far as results are concerned – Haas’ title sponsor, Rich Energy, has renamed itself Lightning Volt Limited and dumped William Storey as both the director and principal shareholder.

Storey reportedly sold his stake in Rich Energy and Matthew Kell will now be the controlling shareholder in the newly renamed Lightning Volt Limited company, which may or may not remain as the title sponsor of Haas for the remainder of the 2019 season.

Haas had previously removed the stag’s head logo of Rich Energy during the 2019 Canadian Grand Prix when a UK court found that the logo had infringed upon a similar logo of UK-based Whyte Bikes, and had run last week’s 2019 British Grand Prix without the logo – although it was a short run, as the drivers of both Haas cars [Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen] left the race early after colliding with each other on the first lap.
