Haas In, Forza Rossa Pending

One new Formula One team is in for 2015 – Haas Formula LLC – while another [Forza Rossa] remains under consideration for the next racing season. Rubber-stamping what had been expected, Formula One accepted the American entry of Haas Formula for next year while the Romanian-based Forza Rossa, headed by former Formula One team chief Colin Kolles, remained under consideration.

While the two new teams can be absorbed into the current roster of teams, it is more likely that they would replace some outgoing teams and current teams Caterham and Marussia appear to be the most likely to retire from the 2015 season. Caterham’s team owner warned his team in the pre-season that he needed to see results [points] if he was going to continue funding the team and Marussia recently took a blow when its unrelated motorsports company folded, casting doubt on the viability of its separate Formula One company.

Haas Formula is the first American-based Formula One team since 2010, though that team eventually folded.
