Haas Names New Driver For 2021 While Fittipaldi Replaces Grosjean At 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix

Haas has named 21-year-old Russian Nikita Mazepin as a new driver for the team in 2021.

Mazepin is currently third in Formula 2 standings and has signed a “multi-year deal”, assisted by the fact that his father is a petrochemical billionaire.

Meanwhile, Haas will replace Romain Grosjean at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix with Brazilian driver Pietro Fittipaldi, the grandson of F1 great, Emerson Fittipaldi. Pietro Fittipaldi recently finished fifth in the F3 Asian Championship.

Grosjean continues to recover from injuries he suffered in a fiery crash at last weekend’s 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix and has indicated that he would like to try and return to race in the season-ending grand prix in Abu Dhabi on December 13, 2020.
