Hamilton Does Not Do Christmas Well

Lewis Hamilton is making a late dash to try and attain the top spot in AutoSportsNation Formula One category “Doofus Moment of the Week”. In a now-deleted Instagram video, the current 2017 Formula 1 world champion driver and often-flamboyant dresser says “boys don’t wear princess dresses” after seeing his nephew in such attire.

The video shows Hamilton speaking to the camera before turning it on his young relative.

“I’m so sad right now. Look at my nephew,” he says.

The camera then shows the boy wearing a pink and purple dress, while holding a toy magic wand.

Hamilton asks him: “Why are you wearing a princess dress? Is this what you got for Christmas?”

The young boy starts laughing as the British racing driver continues: “Why did you ask for a princess dress for Christmas? Boys don’t wear princess dresses.”

After he was subsequently criticized on social media for his comments accompanying the video, which was apparently filmed on Christmas Day, the 32-year-old Hamilton deleted the video and tweeted his “deepest apologies”, saying he loved that his nephew “feels free to express himself” and later apologized for his “lapse in judgment” and said it was “really not acceptable” to marginalize or stereotype anyone.
