Helio Castroneves won the Iowa Corn 300 Indycar race – his 30th Indycar win of his 20-year career – but his first win since 2014.
Castroneves led 217 of the 300 laps and easily fended off the challenge of runner-up JR Hildebrand – finishing nearly four seconds in front of Hildebrand. Ryan Hunter-Reay finished out the podium in third place.
The victory helped Castroneves close the gap to the current 2017 Indycar season driver’s points leader, Scott Dixon – Castroneves now sits a mere eight points behind Dixon for the championship lead after 11 of 17 races.
