Honda And Sony Afeela’n It With Introduction Of New EV At 2023 CES

Honda and Sony have collaborated on Afeela – a new electric vehicle that is expected to go on sale in 2025 – and debuted the vehicle at the 2023 Consumer Electronic Show [CES] in Las Vegas.

The Honda-Sony collab is officially called Sony Honda Mobility and will begin accepting the first pre-orders of Afeelas in the first half of 2025, with sales to currently scheduled to begin later that same year. Initial shipments are expected to be delivered to customers in North America in the spring of 2026.

The Afeela features Level 3 automated driving capability [meaning the car can drive in certain situations, but the human driver must take over when the system requests it] and an integrated Epic Games’ Unreal 3D computer graphics engine, for communication, entertainment and safety purposes.

The Afeela cars will be built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon digital chassis [which was recently jettisoned as Ferrari Formula One team sponsor – by mutual agreement].

The Afeela is expected to be manufactured – at least initially – at Honda’s North American factory.
