After taking six years off from the circuit, Honda will return to Formula One racing in 2015 as the engine supplier to the McLaren team and Honda Motorsport boss Yasuhisa Arai says the engine manufacturer “will match Mercedes” next year. In throwing down the gauntlet, Arai points out that the key will be in finding a perfect balance between the race car’s chassis and its power unit.
Honda will exclusively supply McLaren in 2015 and will also supply the team in 2016 but Arai says the company is open to supplying more teams in that race year.
