Ian Fleming’s Bentley R-Type To Go On The Block At Pebble Beach Next Month

Ian Fleming’s Bentley R-Type Continental is set to be auctioned off at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next month in Monterey, California. The famous creator of the iconic James Bond book and film series purchased the car for its original owner, Ivar Bryce – a friend who was the inspiration for the character Felix Leiter [Bryce’s middle name was Felix] in his books and films – and not only is it one of only 207 Type R Bentley Continentals ever produced, but it is also one of only 11 with left-hand drive specifically for use in the USA. The Bentley was discovered in a Hancock Park [in Hollywood, California] garage and is being offered – unrestored – at auction in the $1.4-$1.8 million range.

The Concours d’Elegance is scheduled for Pebble Beach on the Monterey peninsula of California from August 12-16, 2015.
