British actor [“The Wire” and “Luther”] and car guy, Idris Elba recently broke an 88-year-old Welsh speed record by going an average of 180.3 miles per hour at Pendine Sands in Wales. Elba, driving a Bentley Continental GT, was making the attempt for his new motoring show on the Discovery channel “Idris Elba: No Limits” [which will debut in July 2015].
The old speed record at Pendine Sands of 174.8 mph was set in 1927 by Sir Malcolm Campbell in a Blue Bird race car.
