Former “Top Gear” and current “The Grand Tour” co-host James May has purchased “half a pub” in the village of Swallowcliffe near his home in the UK.
May has reportedly purchased half of The Royal Oak pub, located near Salisbury, Wiltshire. The pub has been shut since the coronavirus lockdown began in March 2020.
The Royal Oak had been slated to become a private residence in 2012, but local investors purchased and reopened the pub in 2015, only to have the Covid-19 pandemic shut it down again.
Another investor in the pub confirms that they are hoping for a pub reopening in October or November, 2020.
