Jilted Netflix Exec Disses Amazon And Former Top Gear Trio

In a surprise move earlier this summer, Amazon swooped in and snagged Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May – the former presenting trio of the wildly popular BBC motoring show, “Top Gear” – out of the hands of British networks Sky and ITV as well as online networks, Hulu and Netflix. Predictably, an executive of one of the jilted networks had something to say about the reported $250 million, three-year deal Amazon paid the former “Top Gear” trio for their upcoming motoring show. In this case it was Netflix executive, Neil Hunt, who munched on the sour grapes with the claim Amazon paid too much and that, for Netflix, “clearly it was not worth the money to make the deal.”

The new as-yet-unnamed motoring show from Clarkson, Hammond and May is currently scheduled to debut on Amazon Prime in Autumn 2016.
