“Driven” is one of two feature films focusing on the life of automotive entrepreneur John DeLorean and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Content Group has announced the film will have its worldwide theatrical debut on August 16, 2019 [after having already been shown at film festivals in Toronto and Venice].
“Driven” stars Lee Pace [‘Guardians of the Galaxy’] in the lead role with as he builds his iconic DeLorean with some help through his friendship with ex-con turned FBI informant, Jim Hoffman (Jason Sudeikis) who then lures DeLorean into a government cocaine trafficking ring, as DeLorean struggles to amass the $17 million needed to save his floundering company. Judy Greer [“Archer”] plays Hoffman’s wife and newcomer Isabel Arraiza [“The Oath”] plays Cristina Ferrare, DeLorean’s fashion model wife.
“Driven” will be the second of two DeLorean-themed films to be released in 2019 with the other being IFC’s upcoming [June 7, 2019 release date] docu-drama “Framing John DeLorean” starring Alec Baldwin as DeLorean and Morena Baccarin [“Deadpool”] as Cristina.
