Current IndyCar Lights champion Sage Karam was rewarded by Ganassi Racing with a car and a possible chance to qualify for the upcoming Indianapolis 500 – but it will mean missing his high school’s senior prom. The 19-year-old Karam was all set to go to the prom with girlfriend Ana de Ferran, the daughter of 2003 Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran, when Ganassi Racing came calling with a ride in the race if he could qualify and qualifying happened to begin on the same day [May 17] as his prom.
The Indianapolis 500 will be held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis on May 26, 2014.
