Haas’ Kevin Magnussen reaped the full benefits of going out early on a wet/dry track and laying down a fast time just before a crash by Mercedes’ George Russell brought the entire sprint race qualifying session to a close with a red flag. That give Magnussen his first-ever pole position in a sprint qualifier and puts him on pole for tomorrow’s sprint race which will determine the race order for this weekend’s 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
