Screenwriter Bobby Moresco is the new director of “Lamborghini” – the biographical feature film based on Lamborghini founder Ferruccio Lamborghini.
Moresco won an Academy Award for best original screenplay for “Crash” and had already written the script for “Lamborghini” – which encountered production delays that moved into this year and likely puts the film’s debut in 2019.
Moresco replaces Michael Radford, who could no longer direct due to the production delays causing a scheduling conflict.
“Lamborghini” will be based on the biography “Ferruccio Lamborghini, The Official Story”, written by his son, Tonino Lamborghini. Antonio Banderas will portray Lamborghini while Alec Baldwin is currently slated to play rival Enzo Ferrari.
“Lamborghini” is expected to follow Lamborghini’s rise to fame from a tractor manufacturer to creating military vehicles during WWII to forming his legendary car company.
Lamborghini famously owned two Ferraris, but while attempting to race one of them, the clutch gave out and Lamborghini approached Enzo Ferrari with an idea to use a tractor clutch in the car instead. Supposedly, Ferrari was not impressed with this suggestion, which Lamborghini used as motivation for designing his car.
“Lamborghini” will begin shooting on April 9, 2018 in Rome and Cento, Italy.
