As if it was not bad enough for English Formula One driver Lando Norris that his team lost to Italy in a tension-packed penalty-kick shootout at the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium in London – he was then mugged on the way to the parking lot and and his McLaren team-issued watch worth $55,000 was stolen.
The 21-year-old Norris was returning to his McLaren car in an official Wembley Stadium parking lot when he was set upon by two men, who relieved him of his expensive watch but left him physically unharmed.
McLaren issued a statement which said no other property was stolen and there were witnesses to the incident, which is being investigated by police.
Norris – who is friends with several players on the England team – was attending the match as a guest in a corporate box.
