Charles Leclerc took the pole position – his fourth in a row – for Ferrari for tomorrow’s 2019 Russian Grand Prix. Leclerc’s Ferrari teammate Sebastian Vettel took third with defending Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton sandwiched in between them for Mercedes.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen took the fourth position ahead of Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, Valtteri Bottas, but Verstappen will have to take a five-place grid penalty for using too many parts on their Honda engine upgrades. Meanwhile, the only other driver with a realistic chance at winning the race – Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Alex Albon – crashed and will start in 19th position.
Carlos Sainz, Jr. of McLaren leads the best of the rest parade in the sixth spot.
