Lewis Hamilton Wins 2020 Eifel Grand Prix And Cyril Abiteboul Gets A Tattoo

Not too surprisingly, six-time defending Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton won the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix at Germany’s famed Nurburgring circuit but the bigger news was Renault’s team boss Cyril Abiteboul becoming the impending recipient of a tattoo courtesy of Daniel Ricciardo’s podium finish in third place – the end result of a bet he had made with Ricciardo. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed second place.

Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate, Valtteri Bottas, was in the pole position at the race start but suffered an engine failure in Lap 19 which allowed Hamilton to take the lead and he was never seriously challenged from that point onward. With the win, Hamilton gets his 91st Formula 1 victory – tying the record set by Michael Schumacher.

Hamilton now holds a commanding lead in the 2020 Formula 1 driver standings with 230 points to 161 for Bottas and 130 for Verstappen.
