Mad Max: Fury Road Wins The 2016 Oscars

“Mad Max: Fury Road” received 10 Academy Award nominations and took home six of those golden statuettes at the 2016 Oscars. Director George Miller’s latest installment in his Mad Max series was filled with futuristic dystopian world car chases and crashes as well as the usual sorta good vs. definitely evil plot that paired and then pitted Tom Hardy’s Max and Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiousa against a litany of bad guys led by Immortan Joe.

For their impressive work in the Namibian desert, “Mad Max: Fury Road” gathered six Oscars for costume design, film editing, makeup, production design, sound editing and sound mixing while losing out for cinematography [to “The Revenant”], visual effects [to “Ex Machina”], director [to “The Revenant”‘s Alejandro Inarritu] and best film [to “Spotlight”].

“Mad Max: Fury Road”‘s six Academy Award were far and away the most won by any film on the night.
