Maldonado Out, Magnussen In At Renault For 2016

In perhaps some of the most unsurprising news preceding the upcoming 2016 Formula One season, Renault/Lotus driver Pastor Maldonado has been stripped of his F1 ride and replaced with Danish driver Kevin Magnussen. The Venezuelan driver had become synonymous with poor driving over the last two years and only kept his seat due to the massive amounts of money he was able to bring in from sponsor, Venezuelan state oil company, PDVSA.

“Today, with great humility, I tell you that I will not be on the Formula One starting grid for the 2016 season,” Maldonado wrote in a statement on his Twitter account.

Magnussen has previously driven for McLaren in 2014 before being released last year.
