It was yet another snoozefest as the team with the fastest car – Red Bull – again started first and finished first with Max Verstappen behind the wheel while his Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez finished second again and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc finished in the third and final podium position.
Verstappen held the pole position and was only challenged briefly – when Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll crashed on Lap Seven and created a brief anomaly in pitting strategies – but took only three laps to get back into first place and Perez joined him on the podium on Lap 17 and then, finally, Leclerc became the final member of the podium on Lap 27. From Lap 27 onward in the 50-lap race, there was no change in the podium positions.
With the victory, Verstappen leads the driver’s standings with 51 points with Perez in second with 36 points and Leclerc in third with 28 points.
