Marussia Joins Caterham In The F1 Penalty Box

Marussia will join Caterham in missing both the United States Grand Prix as well as the Brazilian Grand Prix in November. Caterham has had well-documented financial issues preventing it from safely fielding a team for both the USA and Brazilian Grand Prix races but Marussia has a different problem. Their top driver, Jules Bianchi, is out for the remainder of the season after a crash in the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka and #2 driver Alex Chilton has been a non-factor in every race so far this season and Marussia has apparently decided to bail on even trying to race Chilton for those two races.

The absence of Caterham and Marussia mean the grid size for both the USA and Brazilian Grand Prix races will be drastically reduced to 18 cars but may make racing for the single point awarded for a 10th place finish more intense.

Alex Chilton will not be racing for Marussia at either the USA or Brazilian Grand Prix.

The next race in the Formula One circuit is the United States Grand Prix in Austin on November 2, 2014.
