Marussia Officially In Financial Trouble

Alex Chilton will not be racing for Marussia at either the USA or Brazilian Grand Prix.

Russian-financed Formula One racing team Marussia had already joined Caterham and been pulled out of the United States Grand Prix as well as the Brazilian Grand Prix but unlike Caterham – whose recent financial struggles have been well documented – there was no official reasoning provided for Marussia’s absence…until today, when it was reported that Marussia’s sole Russian shareholder Andrei Cheglakov, was in financial difficulty and unwilling to sink more money into the F1 operation beyond the month of October.

Marussia’s #1 driver, Jules Bianchi, was critically injured at the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka earlier this month and the team only started one car – with #2 driver Alex Chilton behind the wheel – at the last race, the Russian Grand Prix.

The United States Grand Prix is at Austin, Texas, on November 2, 2014.
