Felipe Massa in his new Williams F1 car was the fastest in the final day of testing at Jerez, Spain. Massa ran a 1:28.2 to nip former teammate Fernando Alonso while Alonso racked up the most laps on the track with 115. Meanwhile, defending champion Red Bull/Renault ended their final day of testing early due to continued technical difficulties with the RB10 – with Daniel Ricciardo recording only seven laps on the track. There were three minor crashes/spinouts with Adrian Sutil of Sauber recording the first and Kevin Magnussen of McLaren with the other two. Magnussen’s second crash sent him into a barrier and broke off one of the McLaren’s wings.
The next four-day testing session for the 2014 Formula One racing season will be held in Bahrain beginning on February 19, 2014.
