Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed the pole position for this weekend’s 2023 Austrian Grand Prix.
Verstappen’s Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, was surprisingly eliminated in the second qualifying session for exceeding track limits and subsequently having his lap time deleted. Perez joined Mercedes’ George Russell as surprise Q2 eliminations.
In other surprises, McLaren’s Lando Norris edged past seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes after McLaren received a big upgrade this weekend and at Aston Martin, Lance Stroll out-qualified his former Formula 1 world champion teammate, Fernando Alonso.
