Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was fastest in the final qualifying session and claimed the pole position for tomorrow’s Formula One season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.
It was a Red Bull 1-2 – with Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Perez, finishing second – after Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso showed some competitiveness in the practice sessions but could only muster the fifth-fastest time, narrowly edging seven-time Formula 1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, of Mercedes, who finished seventh.
