Max Verstappen Wins 2024 Japanese Grand Prix

It was a Red Bull 1-2 snoozefest at the 2024 Japanese Grand Prix as Max Verstappen won followed by his Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, with Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, Jr. claiming the third and final podium position.

All the drama was in the first lap when RB [formerly AlphaTauri, Red Bull’s sister team] Daniel Ricciardo touched wheels with Williams’ Alexander Albon and the resulting crash caused a red flag and restart of the race – but the ultimate result was unchanged as both Red Bulls were 20 seconds ahead of Sainz, Jr.’s Ferrari at the finish.

With the victory, Verstappen adds to his Formula One driver’s standings lead over Perez with Verstappen sitting on 77 points to Perez’s 64 points, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in third place with 59 points.
