McLaren Jettisons Ricciardo And Adds Piastri For 2023 Season

McLaren has jettisoned Daniel Ricciardo and will replace him with a fellow Australian – Oscar Piastri – who is the current Formula 2 champion and an Alpine reserve driver.

Piastri will be joining Lando Norris, who is under contract until the end of 2025.

McLaren terminated Ricciardo’s contract a year early to sign the rising star, Piastri.

Ricciardo currently languishes in 12th place in the 2022 Formula One driver’s standings with a measly 19 points so far this season and his only victory for McLaren was at the 2021 Italian Grand Prix [the race where Red Bull’s Max Verstappen infamously drove over the top of Mercedes’ seven-time F1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton].
