McLaren is starting out 2014 with their foot on the gas pedal. Yesterday, Jenson Button had the fastest lap times in the year’s initial testing sessions at Jerez, Spain, and today it was his teammate, Kevin Magnussen, who brought the McLaren home the quickest. Meanwhile, three-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel, his teammate Daniel Ricciardo and the Red Bull team were having a rough go. Vettel completed only 11 laps in the slowest times of the day yesterday and Ricciardo could not do much better today – managing only three measly laps before retiring with technical issues.
Magnussen had the fastest time of the day – 1:23.2 – while Lewis Hamilton had the most laps [62] in his Mercedes W05 and Adrian Sutil recorded the sole crash of the day in his Sauber.
