McLaren’s Lando Norris Tests Positive For Covid-19

It is barely five days into 2021 and Formula One has already had their first driver test positive for the Covid-19 coronavirus as the English 21-year-old McLaren driver Lando Norris has tested positive for Covid-19 while on holiday in Dubai.

Norris is reported to be self-isolating for 14 days at his hotel after he said he had lost his sense of taste and smell and a subsequent test had come back positive.

Norris finished ninth in the 2020 Formula One drivers’ standings with 97 points and scored his first podium placing last season by finishing third in the Austrian Grand Prix in July.

Norris’ positive test comes on the heels of the news that the 2021 Formula One season-opening Australian Grand Prix – currently scheduled for March 21, 2021 – could be postponed due to Australia’s strict Covid-19 protocols.
