In what is the precursor to their expected incoming 1-2 finish at the 2019 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Mercedes claimed the top two positions for the race tomorrow morning.
Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton went 1-2 in qualifying to claim the front row while Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen secured the second row as the only serious potential podium contenders. The only other serious potential contender – Vettel’s Ferrari teammate, Charles Leclerc – crashed out in qualifying and will begin the race in 10th position.
