Mercedes First In Social Media

Mercedes-Benz was the top automotive brand on social media in 2017 according to a report from social media data analytics company Shareablee.

Mercedes-Benz racked up 340 million “actions” across all social media platforms to top the report. BMW placed second with slightly more than 237 million total actions, while Lamborghini finished out the podium in a distant third with approximately 47 million total actions.

As shown by those numerals, the twin German giants, Mercedes-Benz and BMW dominated automotive-related social media, with those totals making up 68% of the total actions for automotive brands.

The report found that the automotive industry, however, only makes up a paltry 2% of the action across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Rounding out the top 10 automotive brands were Jaguar with 34.3 million actions, Porsche with 33.6 million actions, Nissan with 33.3 million actions, Dodge with 33.1 million actions, Audi with 30.5 million actions, Aston Martin with 30.1 million actions and Harley-Davidson with 28.9 million actions.

Lamborghini enjoyed the largest single actionable social media item when the company posted about donating a Huracan RWD to the Pope on Instagram.
