Mercedes Goes 1-2 Again At Italian Grand Prix

Life is back to normal in the world of Formula One racing as, after a brief invasion from Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull, Mercedes regained their dominance on the circuit with a convincing 1-2 finish. This time, the order of finish had Lewis Hamilton in first after his teammate Nico Rosberg made a mistake on Lap 29 that allowed Hamilton to pass. From there it was the Mercedes Show as it has been for much of the 2014 season as neither Hamilton nor Rosberg were seriously challenged for the top two spots and Hamilton held off Rosberg for the win.

This time it was Felipe Massa who took honors for the other podium spot, finishing a distant third for Williams – 25 seconds behind Hamilton. Meanwhile, Ricciardo inished fifth, just ahead of his teammate and four-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel.

In the season point standings, Rosberg continues to hold his lead over Hamilton with 238 points to Hamilton’s 216 followed by Ricciardo in third with 166 points.

The 2014 Formula One racing season continues with the Singapore Grand Prix in Singapore on September 21, 2014.
