Mercedes Wins Chinese Grand Prix As Hamilton And Rosberg Go 1-2

Mercedes wins another 2014 Formula One Grand Prix event. Lather, rinse, repeat. In what has become a recurring theme in the 2014 Formula One racing season thus far, Mercedes went 1-2 yet again with Lewis Hamilton finishing first and teammate Nico Rosberg finishing 18 seconds back in second at the 2014 Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai. In the much more exciting race to see who finishes third, Fernando Alonso filled out the podium finish. Four-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel finished fifth.

The only drama of the race occurred on the 55th lap when a Chinese Grand Prix official mistakenly waved the checkered flag a lap early, giving Hamilton the win before the race was technically over. Formula One regulations stated that the race was over at that point and no point standings were affected for either the race or the season.

In the season point standings, Rosberg holds on to a the lead with 79 points, followed by Hamilton in second with 75 points and Alonso now in third with 41 points.

The 2014 Formula One racing season continues with the Spanish Grand Prix in Catalunya, Spain on May 11, 2014.

The checkered flag was waved for Hamilton on Lap 55 at the 2014 Chinese Grand Prix.
