Mercedes Wins Again At Inaugural Russian Grand Prix

Another week in Formula One brought the same results as the vast majority of the 2014 season with Mercedes-powered cars capturing the first five spots in the inaugural 2014 Russian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton won for Mercedes while his teammate Nico Rosberg came in second followed by Valtteri Bottas in his Mercedes-powered Williams car and Jenson Button and Kevin Magnussen in their Mercedes-powered McLarens.

Marussia’s Jules Bianchi, injured in last week’s Japanese Grand Prix, did not start the race so there were only 21 cars and it only took nine laps for Marussia to be out of the race altogether when their other driver, Max Chilton, exited with mechanical problems on Lap Nine.

In the season point standings, Hamilton adds to his lead over Rosberg with 291 points to Rosberg’s 274 followed by Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo in third with 199 points.

The 2014 Formula One racing season takes a three week hiatus before resuming with the United States Grand Prix at Austin on November 2, 2014.

Lewis Hamilton won his ninth race of 2014 and 31st of his Formula One career.
