Mini Orders 1-2-3 Finish At Dakar Rally

With a Mini sweep all but assured, Mini decided to take all the drama out of which Mini driver was going to win the 2014 Dakar Rally – it will be Spain’s Nani Roma unless he goes rogue and intentionally allows 11-time Dakar champ Stephane Peterhansel to overtake him in the final stage like he did in the 12th stage which Peterhansel won by 26 seconds over Roma after Mini had ordered its drivers to finish the race in their current order [with 2011 Dakar champ Nasser Al-Attiyah to take a distant third in his Mini]. After receiving their marching orders from Mini before Stage 11, Peterhansel intentionally slowed his vehicle down and dropped three minutes further back of Roma to comply with the order in the stage won by Argentine driver Orlando Terranova [another Mini driver].

All Americans have departed the race with B.J. Baldwin leaving in the 10th stage and Robby Gordon leaving in the 11th stage – both with fuel-related issues.
